A Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by RZM M7/51/40 ‐ Anton Wingen Jr. of Solingen. The ricassoed blade on this one looks good. The stamped “RZM M7/51/40” maker mark is dark crisp and beautifully executed! The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is perfect! There is some minor surface spotting and a bit of roughness to the cutting edge you can find with your nail. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. The black leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard remains completely dent free and retains approximately 99%+ of its original paint coverage. The folded and riveted black leather strap has some wear. It is “LFS” marked. It retains all of its rivets and the snap continues to work well! The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 99%+ of its plated finish. The grip plates are black checkered katschuk, they are a bit loose, this is due to the material Wingen used for their grip plates as it tends to shrink, see my reference for more details. They are secured with two zinc rivets. The HJ diamond retains 80%+ of its enamel with a hit to the lower red field! A nice piece!
