M35 ET66 SD Navy Helmet

The stamped, sheet steel construction helmet retains about 65% of its original smooth, parade green paint. The left side of the helmet has a denazified Wehrmacht eagle shield decal featuring a deep, golden yellow eagle with down-swept wings, clutching a canted swastika in it’s talons on a black shield shaped base. The eagle decal is retained about 15%. National shield decal has been removed per orders. All three liner retaining rivets and both inserted ventilation bushings are all intact. The interior of the helmet has an M31 leather liner with all eight of its original fingers and a tie string intact. The liner band seems to be mis-shaped and I suspect the liner has been out at some point. The interior, reverse, neck guard apron is serial number stamped, "4097", and the interior, left side, apron is stamped with the manufacturer’s code and size, "ET66", indicating manufacture by Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG Thale/Harz, size 66. A supple unmarked chinstrap remains.
