Pioneer Etched Dress Bayonet by Höller

Pioniere - Extraseitengewehr mit Klingenätzung by F. W. Höller of Solingen. The plated, etched, fullered, needle-point, single edged, 9 ¾ inch long blade on this on this one looks good. The single frosted etched panel reads, in Gothic style script: “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit” which is surrounded by alternating oak leaves and acorns, with oak leaf clusters to either end. The stamped oval maker mark features a thermometer surrounded by: “F. W. Höller Solingen” with two stars. The plating gives it a nice mirror like finish. The blade rates Exc++. It has scratches throughout and several hit to the all the edges. The black leather bufferpad remains intact. The scabbard is made of sheet metal that that been black enamel painted. It has one bump and spidering throughout. The throat retaining screw and frog lug remain intact. The hilt is zinc based and nickel-silver plated. It shows minor plating bubbling throughout. The push button works well. It looks like a brass piece in there but it’s lacquer and age. It has two black checkered bakelite grip plates secured with two solid nickel-silver grip rivets. They are in perfect condition. This piece comes with a black crazed leather frog. A fine example!
