Extremely Rare, Etched - 1st Model (1934/35) Airforce Dagger (Luftwaffe Borddolch). This specific etch was a special order and privately purchase from the Emil Voos company. This is definitely one of the rarest of rare and is only the second example I’ve owned in my lifetime!

The double etched and plated blade on this one is a real treat… The obverse panel features the Luftwaffe eagle with outstretched wings clutching a mobile swastika in its talons, above/flanked by two laurel leaf and berry sprigs, flanked by two decorative intertwined floral motifs. The reverse features a full decorative intertwined floral motif. The blade for the 1st Model Luftwaffe is one of the largest of all production daggers and therefore required additional attention by the specialist. The plating gives it a nice mirror like finish. The blade rates Exc++/NM. There are minor scratches and spotting throughout, the odd rough mark to the edges and the tip is dulled. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad remains in place. The scabbard is constructed out of a steel sheet metal base that has been covered in a blue textured leatherette. The leather is in wonderful condition with a perfect seam. It shows just the odd scuff. The satin aluminum fittings look superb. Typical scuffs as well. The chain has eight top ringlets and 11 lower, connected to a well working “OLC Ges. Gesch.” (Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid) marked clip. The aluminum crossguard and pommel top are in wonderful condition with gilded sunwheel swas’. The grip is wood based and covered in a blue leatherette. It has minor scuffs and wear to the high marks. The triple straight/twisted aluminum wire wrap remains completely intact. This piece comes with the correct portepee that is in excellent condition. A rare prized piece for any collection…
