SS Dagger by RZM 1198/39 SS

A Model 1933 - Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by RZM Contract Code “RZM 1198/39 SS” - SMF (Solinger Metallwarenfabrik Stoecker & Co.). The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “RZM 1198/39 SS” (SMF, Solingen / 1939) SS contract code are both beautifully executed. Crossgrain remains easily visible as you shine it in the light. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates a Exc++. The tip ever so slightly curves to the back (almost unnoticeable), it shows age grey/spotting throughout along with only minor surface scratches. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard body on this one looks good. It has typical spidering and one scratch to the reverse. It remains dent free and retains 95%+ paint coverage. The steel-based nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings look great. All four screws remain intact and the ball is perfectly round. The scabbard to hilt fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The zinc-alloy based nickel-silver plated crossguards are in great shape as well nicely matching the fittings. The grip is black died hardwood and looks good. It has some scratches throughout and a hairline crack to the reverse. The aluminum eagle is worn to the high spots and has a near perfect fit. The SS roundel retains a third of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. A solid example.
