Personalized - Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Puma of Solingen. The blade on this one looks great. It has an acid etched personalization which reads: “Der Sturm 1/115 Heinrich Kothmann seinem Trupps. K. Fritsoh” (The names need to be researched). The top-right hand portion was poorly peeled off leaving the fourth character of the “Kothmann” name unspecified. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and diamond border surrounding the puma head above “PUMA Solingen” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is stunning and runs the full length, easily visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++/NM. There is spotting and age greying throughout, along with the common runner marks and scratches. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard is in excellent condition. It has the slightest oxidization spotting. It remains dent free and holds 20% of its original factory lacquered finish. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in good shape. The ball has a wee bruise to the bottom. Four screws are intact, one is a replacement. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in wonderful shape matching the scabbard fitting’s color perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “Wm” (Westmark). The dark hardwood grip looks great. There are a few bruises/scuffs throughout. It has two hairline cracks, one above the roundel and another to the reverse lower right hand side. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A very unique example by a desirable maker.
