Reichsarbeitsdienst der weiblichen Jugend (RADwJ) Erinnerungsbrosche in Silber für Maidenunterführerin by F. W. Assmann & Söhne of Lüdenscheid. Introduced sometime after June 26, 1935, the Commemorative Brooch for Retired Members of the RADwJ was awarded to women between the ages of 21 and 35 who passed their testing requirements and honorably serviced their six-months conscription in the RADwJ. These were awarded according to rank: Iron - Maidenführerin, Silver – Maidenhauptführerin and Gold – Stabshauptführerin. It is constructed out of an injection molded zinc-alloy base that has been silver washed. The oval shaped obverse depicts the RADwJ emblem (a mobile swastika above two sheaths of wheat), surrounded by decorative circular lined pattern, which is again surrounded by (and bordered in) a decorative twisted rope coil pattern, all above a pebbled backing. The semi-hollow back reverse is maker marked “A” and “RADJ” (within a downward pointing triangle). As there is no date on this example it may be dated to pre-1938. It also features a horizontally placed, well working, riveted/peened-on pin, hinge and catch assembly. It measures approximately 1 11/16 inches wide by 1 5/16 inches tall.
