Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

A Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Johann Leupold of Bayreuth. The blade on this looks good. The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto and Johann Leupold maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is absolutely stunning and easily visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++. There is some stain to the guard fits like someone tried to clean it there. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard is in impeccable condition. It remains completely dent free and retains 99%+ of its original factory lacquer. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in wonderful condition. There is the slightest bump to the ball. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in also in excellent shape matching the patina nicely. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “Fr” (Franken). The brown hardwood grip looks great. It shows the typical bumps and bruises and a wee chip to the top, obverse lft corner. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a good fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. McSaar rates this as a 7 out of 10 for rarity, yet IMO it is much rarer than that, as I’ve only owned 3 in my lifetime and I have owned thousands!
