Early SA Dagger by Christianswerk

A Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Christianswerk of Solingen. The blade on this one was broken at the tang. It was welded back, hence the stain and pitting towards the guard. The lower guard had to be replaced and the fit is somewhat lacking between the guard and the butt of the blade. The stain could be improved with some Semichrome and patience. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and fork “Christianswerk Solingen” maker mark are both dark crisp and beautifully executed. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard is in excellent condition. It has a small bump to the lower obverse about 2" south of the top fitting. You'll have to use your fingers to find it. The anodizing is a bit thin from wear. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are in good shape. The ball has a bump to the very bottom. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The solid nickel crossguards are in wonderful shape. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “Ns” (Niedersachsen). The brown hardwood grip looks great. There are few pressure marks, yet no cracks, chips or flakes. The crossguard to grip fits are perfect. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 95%+ of its enamel. A reasonably priced example sold with full disclosure.
