German Empire, WWI - Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse 1914. Reinstituted August 5, 1914, by Emperor Wilhelm II, as the third endowment of the Iron Cross, the 2nd Class was awarded to personnel who performed a single act of bravery in combat. From March 16, 1915, the Iron Cross could also be awarded to members of the states allied with the Empire of Germany. This document was awarded 25.10.18, 2 weeks before the armistice was signed to H. Lotur of Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 25. As a side note one of the few units to practice the inclusion of Afro-German soldiers. I do not know if the document is to this guy, I merely share this as an interesting aspect of my research. Measures 21 x 16cm medium weight paper with a center fold.
