Here we have a Police NCO Degan by Kebs the most desirable of all SS sword makers. The 33.5" blade on this one looks good. It has a nice matte finish, with a solid fit and perfect tip! The stamped "Pet. Dan. Krebs Solingen" lobster maker mark is beautifully executed! The blade rates Exc+. It shows surface scratches and age grey as well as old fingerprint stain I have not tried to clean. The buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks great! It has honest wear, a few areas of scratched paint and minor oxidization spotting throughout, yet it remains dent-free and continues to hold 98%+ paint coverage! The steel based nickel plated fitting looks good. 99% of its plating remains intact. This one doesn't have the burnish remaining to the upper fitting, nothing to fret about we do see this sometimes. The original screws are intact and unmessed with. The steel based nickel plated hilt and d-guard also remain in good condition. There is some plating loss but not too bad. The hardwood black grip has honest normal wee hits and marks from period wear. The paint is worn from the high area but no chips or cracks. The tightly secured police NCO eagle is beautifully detailed with an excellent fit! The cast ferrule remains looking good with a nicely detailed oak leaves and acorn pattern again with burnished backgrounds. The pommel nut is quite correct. For those of you who go lookin' for the SS proof marks on the scabbard and hilt, yes they are present. Included is a worn Police portepee. Overall is a fine looking example at a great price!
