Police NCO Degen by Herman Rath

I love these pieces made by Hermann Rath, they are unique and after you get comfortable with them you will know what to expect. The blade rates Exc+. There is some age grey, fingerprint stain, an nail catcher and evidence it's been cleaned. The blade is stamped with the Rath maker mark above a huge SS proof in a diamond. The black enamel painted scabbard has marks/scratches from honest wear. It remains dent free. The lower fitting are secured with unturned screws. The cast ferrule has fine detailed acorns and oak leaves that have been hand chased. The plating to the hilt and D guard is overall very good with some honest wear. The grip has a chip to the upper obverse next to the ferrule. I know many like seeing the SS proof to the scabbard and hilt however in my experience Rath did not use these rather opting for the SS blade stamp. The Police eagle is nicely inset into the grip. The whole thing has nice matching patina and the hilt has surface oxidation I have not tried to clean.
