German WWII > Belt Buckles > Army >
2nd Pattern – Wehrmacht-Heer Koppelschloß mit Koppel by H. Arld. A well-worn tabbed belt buckle up for sale. Very tough to find a later tabbed buckle. The rectangle buckle is constructed of a die struck steel base that has been green painted. The obverse roundel depicts an embossed closed winged National eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons on a round rough background. The eagle is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom and underneath the motto reading: "GOTT MIT UNS" (God with us). The wreath and motto are in front of a decorative line type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The steel prongs and catch remain in great condition! It shows oxidization age wear and paint loss throughout. Attached to the prongs is a crazed brown leather tab which has been folded over and stitched in place. The tab is maker marked and dated (although difficult to make it out). It measures approximately 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high.
