H?rster Short Deluxe Senior Forestry Cutlass with Nazi Ferule

Here's a rare dagger I could not pass by, examples with the eagle and swas cast into the ferule have all but disappeared into collections. The plated blade is stamped with the H?rster name to the obverse and location. The triple etched surface is in very good shape being a nice crisp and dark. The spine pattern is a leaf motif. The blade shows no evidence of sharpening or damage and just a bit of age towards the hilt. The blade measures 9 7/8" and rates an Exc++. Original green felt buffer pad intact. The aluminum based hilt has good factory gilt with just light evidence of use. The clamshell features and braying stag. The front ferule has a political style eagle clasping a swas. The D-guard terminates with the classic deer hoof that has all been hand chased. Nice celluloid grip plates have 3 acorns with oak leaves. The top acorn has been replaced by a professional with a period example, you will have to look awful hard to see any difference but I of course share these details with you. The plates are perfect with no chips or cracks. All the scabbard fittings are in good shape showing wear but no dents. Look at the hand work to the lower fitting!! A great oak leaf and acorn motif. All the stitches are intact. Purchased from the Vet's family by me.
