Canada, WWI era Painted Cast Iron Frame. It is constructed out of a cast iron base that has been painted. The obverse features a beaver on top of a log, atop the rectangular frame which consists of a drum in front of with two crossed trumpets and the Canadian/Vimy Ridge Red Ensign on pole crossed with the Flag of France, to the left and right are two crossed sabers and to the bottom are two crossed cannons behind a maple leaf. The interior edge of the frame features a laurel leaf and berry motif, the exterior features a decorative border, the background is textured and there are two decorative feat to the bottom. The reverse features a protruding bordered for a 4 ¼ by 6 inch glass photo and backing, which has two of three screwed on swivel holders. The base features a decorative easel back and is numbered to the top: “9449” and to the base: “4”. Nice aged patina. It measures 9 inches tall by 6 ½ inches wide.
