Model 1933 - Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by RZM M7/52 - Herbertz & Meurer of Solingen-Grafrath. Based on construction and other known examples I’d estimate this knife to have been made in 1939. The thick ricassoed blade on this one looks good. The stamped “RZM M7/52” maker mark is nicely executed. Traces of crossgrain remain. The tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It shows minor pitting, age grey and spotting and minor scratches throughout. It has the correct textbook blade features for the maker mark with a tapered spine and a 45 angle degree grind to the spine. The black sealed buffer remains intact. The scabbard is sheet metal based black enamel painted. The body remains dent free and holds half of its original paint. The leather hanger retains all of its rivets. The female portion of the button strap has broken off and the male portion is marked: “Stocko Stocko” and has 1/3 of the leather holding it on. The zinc-alloy based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 85%+ of its plating with wear to the expected areas. The grip plates are black checkered bakelite. Both zinc rivets remain, it has a slight wiggle. The large HJ diamond retains 99% of its enamel.
