Modell 1938/2nd Model – Reich Bahnschutz Dolch by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks excellent. The acid etched squirrel “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is gorgeous, running the full length of the blade, easily visible as you shine it in the light. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates NM. There is only minor spotting and scratches throughout. The buffer pad is lost to time. The aluminum plated scabbard has beautifully aged and patinaed with time. It has mostly been lightly cleaned of the spidering bubbling, going to the base and changing the patina to some areas. This variant has no throat which is the most common. The runners remain yet they do not appear to be secured to the interior, they work well and I did not notice until later. The railway winged wheel crossguard is beautifully detailed with gorgeous silvered detail throughout. The scabbard, crossguard, ferrule pommel cap and top are all non-magnetic and silvered, featuring matching patina throughout. The black bakelite grip is in near perfect condition. A nice example.
