1st Pattern Army Marksmen Lanyard - Grade I
1. Modell - Wehrmacht Schützenschnur I Stufe (c.June 1936 - October 1938). Instituted June 29, 1936, the first pattern Wehrmacht Marksmen Lanyard (Wehrmacht eagle in front of a shield) was originally made in four grades to replace the previous sleeve stripes. Come October 17, 1938, the first pattern lanyard was replaced with the second pattern (the insignia differentiated depending on the unit) for grades five through eight. This lanyard is constructed out of a 14-braid silver-aluminum v-pattern cord, with a stamped aged silver first pattern Wehrmacht shield insignia attached to the rosette. The reverse features a stitched-on field-gray wool piece to the back of the rosette. It measures 17 inches long. Wonderful condition.
