Railroad Officer Brocade Belt Buckle by Assmann 1940

Deutsche Reichsbahn Feldbindenschloss by F. W. Assmann & Sohne of Lüdenscheid. Instituted in 1940. It is constructed out of a die stamped aluminum-alloy base that has been gold gilded. The round shaped obverse features a winged wheel below a mobile swastika in front of a pebbled round backing that is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is open to the top and tied together at the bottom. The reverse is clearly maker marked: “” (F. W. Assmann & Sohne, Lüdenscheid), patent protected “D.R.G.M.” (Deutsches Reiches Gebrauchs Musterschutz) and dated “40” (1940). The catch and hinge assembly look great. Beautiful detail and gilding remain. The face measures 1 7/8 inches in diameter. Purchased from the veteran’s family.
