Army Paratrooper Badge by C.E. Juncker

2nd Pattern - Fallschirmschützenabzeichen des Heer by C.E. Juncker of Berlin. Re-instituted June 1, 1943, the Army Paratrooper Badge was awarded to officers, NCOs and soldiers who successfully completed the parachute shooting training course. The authorization to carry was checked once a year and was dependent on at least six jumps per year. It is constructed out of a two-piece zinc-alloy base that has been gold gilded, silver washed and finished in a brennlack coating. The oval shaped obverse depicts a silvered diving eagle above/surrounded by a gilded half laurel leaf and berry, half oak leaf and acorn wreath all below an army closed winged eagle that is clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The fullback reverse correctly displays: a soldered-on tombak block hinge, a soldered-on steel round plate tombak round wire catch, a tombak round wire pin and two brass dome rivets. It shows zinc oxidization areas and a minor superficial crack to the left side of the wreath. Great detail. It measures 2 1/8 inches tall by 1 11/16 of an inch wide.
