1st Pattern - Reichs Luftschutz Bund Abzeichen by Hermann Aurich of Dresden. This label badge would have been worn by members of the RLB while in civilian clothing. It is constructed out of a two-piece die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and contains blue translucent enamel work. The round shaped obverse features the 1st pattern RLB emblem, which consists of a “RLB” in gothic style letters above a blue mobile swastika which is on top of an eight-pointed silvered sunburst pattern and in front of a round blue enamel background. The fullback reverse is maker marked “H. Aurich Dresden” and “Ges. Gesch.” and has a soldered-on round plate knurled stickpin. The enamel is near perfect and the patinated silver wash looks beautiful. The face measures ¾ of an inch in diameter. Purchased from the veteran’s family.
