NSDAP 10 and 15 Year Long Service Medal Bar

NSDAP Dienstauszeichnung 1. und 2. Stufe - Schnalle. Instituted April 2, 1939, the NSDAP Long Service Medal was awarded to members of the NSDAP who had given 10 years (I. Stage) and 15 years (II. Stage) of service. The I. Stage is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed and lacquered. The II. Stage is constructed out of a nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and contains blue translucent enamel work and is finished in a protective lacquered coating. The obverse depicts a centrally placed wreathed German national eagle, with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons, above a round oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom and a pattée style cross that has sun bursts visible to the corners. The reverse displays “Treue für Führer und Volk” (Loyalty to Leader and People) in gothic style script, encircled by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is above that same cross and sun bursts. The awards measures 1 5/8 inches wide and tall. To the tops are integral loops and rings which attach the medal to the two-place bar. The bar is constructed out a plated sheet metal base. The obverse is covered with the correct blue and silver rayon/flatwire ribbon and brown and white rayon ribbon. The reverse has a stitched on brown wool base with a well working pin, hinge and catch assembly. The full bar measures 3 inches wide by 2 5/8 inches tall. A nice assembly.
