SS Member’s Runic Breast Badge
SS Mitglied Brustrune Abzeichen für Offiziere. Introduced January 16, 1937, the SS Member’s Runic Breast Badge was for wear by former Allgemeine-SS, personnel serving with the Ordnungspolizei. In July 1943, wear of the runic SS breast badge was extended to all full-fledged SS personnel who were serving in one of the Waffen-SS units, with some restrictions. It is constructed out of hand embroidered rolled aluminum-silver bullion-flatwire to a cardboard base and a field gray wool and a grey lacquered cotton backing. The obverse features two silvered SS runes on a field gray background. Minor thinning to the wool. It measures 1 3/8 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall.
