Army Anschluss Three-Piece Medal Bar

Schnalle - Three-Piece Wehrmacht 4 & 12 Year Long Service Medal and Anschluss Commemorative Medal. Likely assembled sometime around late-1938, this medal bar would have been awarded to a long-standing member of the Army who participated in the march to Austria. Front left to right:

  • Wehrmacht 12 Year Long Service Medal (Wehrmacht Dienstauszeichnung 12. Klasse für 4-jährige Dienstzeit (Heer und Kriegsmarine). Instituted March 16, 1936).
  • Wehrmacht 4 Year Long Service Medal (Wehrmacht Dienstauszeichnung 4. Klasse für 4-jährige Dienstzeit (Heer und Kriegsmarine). Instituted March 16, 1936).
  • Anschluss Commemorative Medal Die Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938). May 1, 1938.
The bar consists of a stamped alloy metal base, that is covered to the front with each medal’s appropriate rayon ribbon and to the back with a black wool, assembled with black stitching. The reverse also shows the appropriate pin, covered hinge and catch assembly that remains in well working condition. It measures 4 inches wide by 2 7/8 inches tall.
