Swiss - National Donation Badge by Hans Frei 1918
Switzerland, WWI - Swiss National Donation Badge “For our Soldiers and their Families” in 800 Silver by Hans Frei. In January 1919, the “Swiss National Donation” gave medals to commemorate those who gave donations the Swiss army in WWI. It is constructed out of a die stamped “800” silver base. The oval shaped obverse features the left facing bust of a Swiss soldier above “Hans Frei”. The reverse reads: Swiss National Donation for our Soldiers and their Families (in French, German and Italian), on top of a Swiss cross, with “800” (silver content designation) to the base. It also features a pin, hinge and catch assembly that remains in well working condition. It measures 1 1/18 inches wide by 1 5/16 inches tall.
