Personalized - Transitional Hitler Youth Knife by Krebs
Personalized, Transitional - Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Carl Julius Krebs of Solingen - Straight 5. Based on construction this piece can be dated to c.1939/40. The blade on this one looks great. The stamped crowned “K” above “Solingen” maker mark and “RZM M7/5” RZM mark are beautifully executed. It has a solid fit and perfect tip. The blade rates Exc++. It shows some age grey throughout, a wee wave to the cutting edge and only minor scratches. The black sealed leather buffer pad remains intact. The sheet metal based, black enamel painted scabbard looks excellent. The reverse is personalized reading: “Peter Tabbert Herxheim Kvonn nzen 13 Deutsch”. It continues to hold 90% paint coverage and remains completely dent free. It has two cloth covered runner. The folded over black tanned leather strap is in wonderful condition. It retains all of its rivets and the snap continues to work well. The hilt is constructed out of a zinc base that has been nickel-silver plated. The plating remains 90% intact, with wear in the expected areas. The reverse of the pommel has some hits. The two black checkered bakelite grip plates are in excellent condition and secured with two solid steel grip rivets. To the center obverse of the grip is a large HJ diamond which retains 99%+ enamel. There is some cracking around the diamond, it is immobile and has some traces of glue to the edges, replaced and completely original. A nice HJ knife.
