Stickpin - Silver Spanish Cross with Swords

Instituted April 14, 1939, the Silver Spanish Cross with Swords was awarded to those who had at least moderate combat experience, having participated in decisive battles. The stickpin lapel variation would be privately purchased for everyday wear. It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts a convex pebbled Maltese style cross with two crossed broad swords and four Luftwaffe eagles to each corner, that has an encircled mobile swastika to the center. The fullback reverse has a soldered-on and knurled stickpin. The face measures 11/16 of an inch wide and tall.
