Army NCO/Officer Breast Eagle
2nd Pattern - M36 Wehrmacht-Heer Brustadler für Unteroffizer und Offiziere. Introduced February 17, 1934, the appropriate national eagle was to be worn on the tunic’s left breast pocket as the identifying symbol. It is constructed out of a machine embroidered silver flatwire and green cotton thread to an emerald green rayon backing. The obverse depicts a M36 2nd pattern silver army open winged eagle, clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons, above an emerald green backing. There is green stitching to the entire exterior where it would have been stitched to a uniform. The reverse shows the stitching pattern. It measures 3 1/4 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches high.
