2nd Class War Merit Cross by 60

Here we have an early 2nd Class War Merit Cross, which was given to civilians who performed meritorious service behind the lines. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base that has been bronze washed. It depicts a pebbled Maltese style cross with a wreathed swastika / "1939" (reverse) to the center. To the top is a soldered on loop and maker marked ring "60" (Katz & Deyhle, Pforzheim) which holds approximately 8 inches of original black, white and orange rayon ribbon. It award measures approximately 1 7/8 inches wide and tall. It retains a nice bronze finish to it! An excellent piece!
