Type II - SA-Wehrabzeichen in Bronze by Berg & Nolte of Lüdenscheid. On January 19, 1939, the SA Sports Badge was transformed into the SA Defense Badge (SA-Wehrabzeichen). This new badge was no longer about sports but was an achievement badge. It is constructed out of a die stamped steel base that has been bronze washed and finished in a lacquer coating. The obverse depicts an upright vertical broad sword, in front of a mobile swastika, which is surrounded by an eight-piece laurel leaf wreath that is tied together at both sides. The semi-hollow back reverse is maker marked: “Berg & Nolte of Lüdenscheid” and features the Type II inscription. The pin, hinge and catch assembly are all in well working condition. shows wear to finish. It measures 1 13/16 inches wide by 2 5/16 inches tall.
