Short Dress Bayonet by F.W. Höller
A Short - Luftwaffe Extraseitengewehr by F.W. Höller of Solingen. The fullered 7 1/2 inch plated blade on this one looks nice. The stamped “F.W. Höller Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed! The plating gives it a nice mirror like finish. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc++ with minor scratches and the odd scuff. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks good. It shows age spidering and retains 97%+ of its original paint coverage. It continues to remain completely dent free. The original throat retaining screw and frog lug remain intact. The ball remains perfectly round. The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated hilt looks great as well. It retains 98%+ of a plating coverage. The black checkered bakelite grip plates are in perfect condition being tightly secured to the hilt with two rivets. The push button continues to work well! A piece of red felt fills the mortice slot. Finally a nice early frog and repaired portepee is included. A fine piece.
