A Model 1934 - Schutzstaffel by Gottlieb Hammesfahr of Solingen. The acid etched "Meine Ehere Heisst Treue" motto and "Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen" maker mark are correctly executed. The bright blade has been cleaned hard removing the crossgrain. The etch is somewhat lightened. The fit continues to remain solid! The blade rates in at Exc+. The steel based, black anodized scabbard has been period repainted and retains 90% of that paint. There is a small indent to the lower obverse 2" north of the lower scabbard fitting. It's nothing and you will have to turn the scabbard in the sun to find it. The ball has a bruise to the very bottom. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards look excellent as well. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "I" (Munich). The crossguards to grip fits are very good. The dyed black hardwood grip has been post-war repaired. As with so many of these SS grips this one chipped and has been repaired with by a professional. The solid nickel eagle has a perfect fit and retains beautiful detail! The SS runes retain 99% enamel and it has perfect fit. The scabbard patina does not perfectly match the guards so most likely the scabbard has been replaced at some point. Nope not perfect as some work has been done on this but a very good looking example at a fair price.
