German WWII > Belt Buckles > Luftwaffe >
Luftwaffe Koppelschloß. An excellent marked piece! The rectangular shaped buckle is constructed out of a die struck steel base that has been black painted. The obverse features a centrally placed 2nd pattern Luftwaffe open winged eagle clutching a swastika in one of its talons, in front of an oval pebbled background, that is all encircled by a laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom, which all lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The reverse steel prongs and soldered on catch remain in excellent condition. Attached to the prongs is a dark brown leather tab which has been folded over and stitched in place. The tab is maker marked and dated but sorry just to lightly to make out. It measures approximately 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high. Shows wear and beautiful detail remains to the eagle! A good example!
