Early Hitler Youth Knife by Carl Eikchorn
Early v1 - Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Based on construction this knife can accurately be dated to 1933-1935. The blade is the early thin variation. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto is light yet remains 97% visible. The stamped Double Oval, Bent Arms, v1 “Carl Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark are nicely executed. The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. The blade rates an Exc+/Exc++. It has been sharpened and shows age grey, spotting and scratches throughout. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black painted scabbard looks good. It remains completely dent free and holds 40% of its paint coverage. It has some blade hits to it. There are two scabbard runners. The brown tanned scabbard leather is in fine shape. The very top is 60% held together. All of the rivets remain intact and the snap continues to work well. The iron-based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 90%+ of its plating, with wear to the expected areas. The grip plates are the black thin checkered bakelite, they are in near perfect condition and secured with two nickel-silver grip rivets. They has some dirt in the crevasses. The medium HJ diamond retains 98% of its enamel. Correct die flaws.
