Centenary Memento of the Death of Admiral Nelson, likely made by Elkington and Co. In 1905 the B.F.S.S. (British & Foreign Sailor’s Society) was instrumental in the program of events for the Nelson Centennial. It is constructed out of a cast copper “From H.M.S. Victory” that has been bronze washed. The obverse features the HMS Victory. The reverse reads: ““Centenary Memento of the Death of Nelson, 1805 Oct. 21st 1905. Containing Copper From H.M.S. Victory. The Gift of the Lords of the Admiralty to British and Foreign Sailors Society. E.R.VII”. It features a soldered-on pin, hinge and catch assembly. It shows bronze wash loss and minor verdigris. It measures 1 3/16 inches wide by 1 1/8 inches tall.
