1. Stufe Nahkampfspange in Bronze by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid. Instituted November 25, 1942, the Bronze I Stage Close Combat Clasp was awarded for 15 close combat battles. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed and brennlack finished. The obverse depicts a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet with oak leaves, acorns and lined rays all beneath a German national eagle. The fullback reverse correctly displays: a crimped steel backplate, soldered-on round plate flatwire catch, soldered-on sheet metal hinge and steel fluted pin. Minor finish loss. It measures 3 7/8 inches wide by 1 inch tall.
