Model 1933 - Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Rich. Abr. Herder of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “Rich. Abr. Herder Solingen” maker mark are both crisp and nicely executed. The crossgrain is beautiful and easily visible as you shine it in the light. The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++. It shows some pitting spots towards the tip, along with minor age grey/spotting throughout and the typical runner marks. The scabbard is steel based and black anodized. The body shows oxidization spotting throughout. It continues to remain completely dent free. The nickel-silver scabbard fittings look great with that wonderful smokers’ patina. All four scabbard screws remain intact and the ball retains a nice round profile. The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well matching the scabbard fittings patina perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The grip is black died hardwood. It has a very large crack to the obverse. The reverse has a hand scratched in personalization reading: “K. H. Sch.”. The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed. It is moveable due to the crack. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and has a perfect fit. Overall, this is an unmessed with example with great patina.
