A M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch für Offiziere by WKC of Solingen. The acid etched fouled anchor blade on this one looks excellent. The etching has crisp panels that provide a wonderful contrast to the plated blade. The stamped knights head “WKC” maker mark is beautifully executed and in the correct obverse location for WKC. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates Exc++/NM. It shows minor age spotting and grey throughout. A replacement red felt buffer pad has been added. The lightning bolt style scabbard is brass based and gold gilded. The hand enhancing looks excellent. There are some bruises as is typical with the soft brass base. Both throat retaining screws remain intact and unturned. The button works and it is more moveable than usual. The crossguard and pommel are brass based and gold gilded. The fouled anchors to the crossguard and proudly perched kriegsmarine eagle pommel are all beautifully detailed. The deep orange grip is the more desirable trylon type. I had to disassemble this to replace a missing buffer pad an notice that the lower section of the grip hidden in the crossguard is missing. You would never know but I found this and share it with you. The double twisted wire wrap remains tightly intact. It also comes with a portepee that is not tied in "textbook" fashion but in wonderful condition. Overall, A very nice and desirable example.
