Model 1902 - Kaiserliche Marinedolche - Naval Officer's Dirk. The drop forged blade is a plated, double edged, double fullered, spear point, plain example that measures 9 5/8 inches long. The plating provides a nice mirror like finish. It is hand stamped: “O.2832”. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates NM. It shows minor hits and even age clouding. A brown leather buffer pad remains and is likely a later replacement. The hammered style scabbard is brass based, gold gilded and burnished. The oak leaf and acorn bands look excellent. Both throat retaining screws remain intact. The button works and would work correctly with a thinner buffer pad. The crossguard and open crown pommel are brass based, gold gilded and burnished. The fouled anchors to the crossguard and hand enhanced crown pommel top are both beautifully detailed. The grip is wood based and covered in white celluloid. It is in wonderful condition. The tightly twisted brass wire wrap remains tightly intact. This piece comes with a gold bullion portepee. There is a faint green ageing throughout. Overall, a beautiful very early example.
