Minty - M36 Type I / C - Schutzstaffel Kettendolch für Offiziere. I really like this SS dagger... It is definitely one of the best chained examples I’ve owned in a long time. The blade on this one is incredible. The acid etched “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” motto is crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain looks wonderful, running the full length of the blade. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is perfectly seated up against the crossguard. The blade rates NM/Mint-. Chained SS daggers were issued from the factory with a blade that has no maker mark. It has runner marks, the odd scratch and the slightest age spotting throughout. The sheet metal based black painted scabbard body on this one looks excellent. It remains completely dent free. There are the common marks from the chain. It continues to hold some of its original factory lacquer. The steel based nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings look wonderful. All six screws remain intact. The ball has a wee bruise to the bottom yet retains a nice round profile. The chain links show wonderful details to the skulls and SS runes. The correct first upper link reverse is clearly “SS” proof marked. The “D.R.G.M.” marked clip continues to work well. The scabbard to crossguard fit is near perfect. The zinc-alloy based nickel-silver plated crossguards are in excellent condition. Only minor bubbling throughout. The black hardwood grip is in wonderful condition. The slightest flake chips to the reverse top. The solid nickel-silver eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. Minty and completely Textbook. This one is sure to please.
