Wehrmacht-Heeres Schirmmütze für Offiziere der Artillerie by Marke Standard - J.C. Kornacker of Hildesheim - Extra Klasse. It is constructed out of field grey wool, with a dark green center band and red piping. Attached to the obverse is a die stamped, aluminum based, silver washed second pattern army cap eagle and multi piece tri-color cockade (red wool, silvered aluminum and black painted aluminum) and silvered aluminum oak leaf and acorn wreath. To each side is a peened-on multi piece silvered pebbled aluminum/steel button that hold the interwoven silver aluminum chin cord in place. It shows age. The front also features a lacquered black patent visor peak with a cross hatched cream underside. The interior features a tan brown ersatz sweatband with a silk bowtie to the reverse. Kornacker is known for sweatbands that tear easily, as this one is. The base has a clear diamond moisture shield that is stitched to the gold-colored satin tricot cloth interior. It is above the “Extra Klasse” eagle and “Marke Standard” black maker mark. There is also a name tag insert. There is mothing and age throughout. A fine looking visor.
