Earliest/Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Anton Wingen Jr. of Solingen. Based on construction this piece can be dated to early-1934. The blade on this one looks excellent. The stamped knight in armor “Anton Wingen Jr. Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto looks great as well. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc++. It shows scratches throughout along with age grey and spotting. The leather buffer pad remains intact and sits loose which is textbook with these early style blades. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard is in excellent condition. It retains 95%+ paint coverage and remains completely dent free. It shows minor spidering and oxidization spotting throughout. It has a single scabbard runner that is secured with the obverse copper dome rivet – typical for HJ’s by Wingen. The brown tanned scabbard leather is in wonderful condition. It is marked “LFS”. It has all of its rivets intact and the snap continues to work well. The iron based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 97%+ of its plating. Only the slightest oxidization wear to the edges of the belly and spine. The grip plates are Wingen’s textbook black checkered Kautschuk type and are in perfect condition. Both solid nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. The medium HJ diamond retains 99% of its enamel. Very early with Textbook Anton Wingen features throughout.
