It is constructed out of a cast galvanized aluminum composition that has been black burnished. The obverse features a national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. The semi-hollow back reverse features three stud (specific for 72.0cm car eagle) locations with broken off screw nipples. It is maker marked to the wing: “PS” within a circle (Pinter Schwelm), above “LOK 720” (Lokomotive 72.0cm), above “GAL-Mg-Si” (Galvanized Aluminum, Mg=Magnesium, Si=Silicon). In between the talons it is marked “RZA 7” (Reichsbahn-Zentralamt 7) above “BLN” (Berlin). The head is marked, not necessary but nice to see. The whole patina is very dark. This is one of the most requested pieces by collectors and most often serves as the centerpiece of their collection. Very impressive…
