Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Hugo Köller of Solingen. The blade on this one looks decent. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto is light yet fully visible. The stamped “Hugo Köller Solingen” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark both remain beautifully executed. The fit remains nice and tight. The blade rates Exc/Exc+. It shows heavy age grey, has been re-shaped and sharpened and typical age throughout.. The blackend leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is steel based and black enamel painted. Faint paint coverage and remains completely dent free. It has a single scabbard runner. The throat has a small crack. The blackened tanned scabbard leather is in excellent condition. It has been re-riveted to the scabbard. It has all of its rivets intact and the “DERBY 4” marked snap continues to work well. The iron-based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 80% of its plating, with wear to the expected areas. The grip plates are black checkered bakelite and are in perfect condition. Both solid nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. Note how the heads of the rivets are smaller, this is Textbook for Hugo Köller. The medium HJ diamond retains 98% of its enamel. No doubt one of the rarest HJ makers.
