Early Rural Police Bayonet by Eickhorn

Here's an early, matching, cut-down Weimar period Rural Police Bayonet by Carl Eickhorn! The plated bade on this one looks good. It retains a nice and bright mirror like finish along with a perfect fit and sharp tip. The stamped "Carl Eickhorn C. E. Solingen" (earliest maker mark) maker mark and spine marked proof stamp and "192" are all beautifully executed! The blade rates Exc/Exc+. It shows minor spotting and surface scratches throughout. It is a cut-down example so the tip is obviously rougher. The brown leather scabbard body looks good! It has some hits throughout yet retains all of its stitching. The four vertical lines running through it giving it that finishing touch of German detail! It has had some shoe polish applied to help seal the leather. The brass based and nickel-silver plated scalloped scabbard fittings have nicely patinaed with age. The top fitting has some age verdigris on it where a frog would have been. The reverse of the top fitting is marked "L.S. 172." and matches the reverse of the crossguard. This indicates issue to Landjägerei Schutzpolize. The top of the scabbard throat is also marked "192" (matching the spine on the blade). The scabbard snugly fits the brass based hilt. The hilt matches the scabbard in color, wear and patina. It depicts wonderful detail throughout, with the oak leaves, acorns and highly detailed pommel eagle! The multi-toned stag grip plates are tightly secured with two aluminum rivets. The centrally placed aluminum police eagle is properly pined and still shows nice detail throughout! A nice looking, early example of a matching police bayonet by Eickhorn. Snatch it up before someone else does!
