Here's a beauty dagger that's missing from 99% of collections. This is a wonderful representation of an upgraded Marine NSKK. This piece has an original scabbard and chain exactly as they were returned and the dagger itself has has the crossguards post-war plated to match the scabbard. No not ideal, but this is exactly what a period upgrade would have looked like. As always I share any restoration work done. Blade has been cleaned and buffed and the motto and Adolf Volker maker mark somewhat lightened. The blade rates Exc. Scabbard is a nice one with 99%+ of original paint. There are a few odd scratches and some crazing but finding one of these chained pieces with original paint and no nicks is near impossible. The chains tends to chip the paint easily. The ball is perfect. The scabbard fittings are gilt washed nickel retaining all their unturned screws. The plating is excellent, certainly rating better than 95% on the fittings and 80% to the chain. Nice multi-toned hardwood grip displays good grain with tones from light brown to black and remaining chip and crack-free. The nickle eagle is perfectly fit. Roundel retains 100% of enamel. The handle shoulders and radii well fit the crossguards. Blade is perfectly set into the crossguard. The chain is in good shape, with some wear but overall good plating. The top link is stamped "NSKK Korpsfuhrung Musterschutz". The link holes are the correct horseshoe shape and there is evidence of wear, the worse of which is to the reverse of the chain. The snap functions fine. You would expect to pay 2x this for an unrestored example.
