Here we have one of the most elegant daggers made during the Third Reich! This one is also quite the prize as Puma has some unique features and made about one of these for every 25-50 Eickhorn did! The blade on this piece looks great! The stamped “Puma Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed. The crossgrain looks wonderful all the way from the hilt to the tip. It has a perfect tip and solid fit! The blade on this one rates in at Exc++/NM. It has been lightly cleaned and shows the slightest surface scratches and age greying/spotting throughout. The original green felt (Puma specific) buffer pad is ripped yet remains intact. The steel based and nickel-silver plated Puma scabbard is a beautiful and remains completely dent-free! The scabbard body depicts beautiful details with a random pebbled body and two oak leaf and acorn bands. The two side throat retaining screws remain intact. The scabbard snugly fits up against the hilt. The crossguard is tombak based and nickel-silver plated. It depicts a regal eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. It wonderfully displays details throughout the eagles head, chest, wings, and thick wreathed swastika. The glamorous eagle head pommel, screw cap, ferrule and front side plate are all tombak based and nickel-silver plated as well. These components all hold together two mother of pear grip plates. They are in wonderful condition with only one wee chip to the reverse side. The color is beautiful! All of the exterior components match in plating, patina, age and color. Overall this is a real beauty that wonderfully shows off hand-fitted German craftsmanship! No collection is complete without one of these!
