Carl Eickhorn 1st Model Luft

A real nice early example by the most common dagger maker of the period! The plated blade on this looks great retaining a nice bright finish! It has a tight fit and the tip is perfect and the stamped "Carl Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark and waffen stamp are beautifully executed! The blade rates an Exc++. It has some surface scratches throughout along with a wee bit of spotting towards the tip. The blue, pebbled, leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard throat is unit marked ?17/2?.The scabbard body has lost its leather and someone has painted over it in a blue/black paint, looks to be period done to me but you make up your mind. The solid nickel scabbard fittings show some period wear and patina. They do have some hits and pressure marks throughout yet remain in nice shape. Four of the five screws remain intact! The nickel chain has 15 lower and 10 upper ringlets that ends at a well working clip! The one lower connector attaching the clip and the lower ringlet has been replaced with a post war connector. The nickel hilt fittings are nicely patinaed! The separately inserted brass swastikas look great against the dark background. The grip leather remains in great condition and is tightly triple wire wrapped. A nice early example here for the taking!
