Early SA Chained High Leader Dagger by Carl Eickhorn

Wonderful opportunity for you purchase an unmessed with completely original High Leader. The slver honor crossguards and tang nut feature an even age throughout. The crossguards are internally numbered 106 and are matching. The grip is a medium contour ridge constructed type and it remains in excellent condition fitting the crossguards nicely. It has very attractive color tones and is also numbered. The SA runes button is beautifully set and has perfect enamel. The grip eagle is a fine silver-toned example, being the ?high necked? variety most often observed on these honor examples. The scabbard shell is perfectly straight and is covered with the original fine grained brown leather. The leather shows some signs of age throughout and along the edges there is some missing due to shrinkage and wear of the chain. The leather runs up to but not under the upper and lower fittings. The center band is installed over the leather surface, as was the case with early High Leader pieces. The band is actually a fold-over fitting, which is riveted into place. The scabbard fittings have the burnished paneled lines bordering their design on both surfaces and match the tone of the silver crossguards. All of the fittings are in fine condition showing some usage, but absolutely no abuse. The lower ball has never been dropped and is in excellent condition. These scabbard fittings are retained by early silvered screws. The chain hanger is attached to the scabbard via small round wire ring connectors. These ring connectors are fitted through the eyelets, which accompany the upper and center scabbard fitting. The chain hanger assembly consists of five upper links and seven lower links. Each link is rectangular shaped and has a raised out immobile swastika in the center. The inner links are equipped with a loop on each of the four sides. These built in loops are used to connect the links together with small round metal tabs. The end links of both chain assemblies merely have holes drilled into them where small rings connect them directly to the proper hardware. The two upper chains connect to a clip, which has an applied, large, round SA Runes emblem. This emblem has a darkened center area, done by the factory. The spring is original and works well. The reverse of the chain assembly is in the same condition showing little signs of age but no damage. The blade is a fine maiden hair, hand-forged, Damascus. It has very prominent patterns and features a slightly dark finish to the metal. This blade is in perfect condition throughout with no problem areas, pits or blemishes. It features a raised out, SA motto, ?Alles für Deutschland?. The raised out motto is flanked by oak leaf and acorn sprigs. There is about 10% of the original gild remaining throughout the motto. This blade condition easily rates at excellent. The reverse has the same prominent maiden-hair patterns. It is a very beautiful swirling design. The reverse ricasso is raised etched with the 1933-35 Carl Eickhorn trademark. This trademark depicts double oval circles with the firm's name and location, ?Carl Eickhorn/Solingen?. In the center is a detailed seated squirrel which has a serrated tail. The blade shoulders nicely fit the lower crossguard. The tang of this Damascus blade is stamped ?DAMAST?. Additionally, the other side of the tang is marked ?175?. An outstanding original SA High Leader and one of the few that has never seen restoration work. *******Sold**********
