C. Eppenstein Sohne, Solingen

The C. Eppenstein Söhne, Messerfabrik, company began in 1845 by Carl Eppenstein. The company registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce on October 31, 1902. That same year Eppenstein registered its winged horns trademark. From 1914-1930, the company was owned by Carl's two sons: Hugo and Richard. Eppenstein focused on the sale of: cutlery, trade and kitchen knives. Advertisements from the 1920's list their offerings as: cutlery, butcher and bread knives. During the Third Reich era, early SA/NSKK knives were manufactured. By 1939, widow Anna Eppenstein was listed as the owner. The company was located at Schlagbaumer Strasse 92 in Solingen from 1935-1986. The company likely dissolved in 1986. Old Solingen forged chef, pizza and fruit/vegetable "Bull Nose" knives "made in the 1970's" are still being sold.
